DESCRIPTION

This page describes some of the various ways that birds try to attract a mate. Courtship plumage and display behavior accounts for much that people find most amazing or odd about birds.

This page is an introduction to games and activities that deal with the ways birds communicate, find a mate, and raise a family.

BACKGROUND

One of the strangest-seeming things about birds is the different ways they go about attracting a mate. In fact, humans do a lot of the same things. Most birds specialize in one method of finding a partner. For example, songbirds tend to be quite drab in appearance, while beautifu peacocks have a very unimpressive call.
