DESCRIPTION

This page gives your class the tools to conduct a debate on the questions raised by the other three pages within this chapter. The three topics are:

"Archaeopteryx was a bird."
"Extinction can be cured."
"Birds are descended from dinosaurs."

BACKGROUND

The study of bird evolution is growing and changing very quickly. Many new discoveries are being made, especially in Mongolia, of early birds and feathered dinosaurs. Because the field is in such flux, there are a lot of theories and arguments in the expert community. This activity lets your students participate in the fun, by debating topics in bird evolution.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Encourage your students to do some online research to make sure that their arguments are up to date. Here are a couple of links that might be helpful.

Evidence supports dinosaur-bird evolution, at HowStuffWorks.com
