DESCRIPTION

This page describes different kinds of foods and birdfeeders, and indicates which birds are likely to be attracted to each.

Instructions are also given for building a tray feeder, and making birdseed cookies. The material here may be helpful to students working on the activity "What's for Lunch?"

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Have students participate in Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Project Feeder Watch.

Visit their site at http://birds.cornell.edu/pfw/.

Feeder Watch is a winter-long survey of North American birds that visit feeders at backyards, nature centers, community areas, and other locales.

Click the icon to the left to download a set of instructions which students can follow to build their own backyard birdfeeder
