Training 101
Through bird demonstrations, games and a multimedia presentation, your students will learn hands-on about positive reinforcement and classical conditioning techniques used by professional National Aviary trainers to elicit specific behaviors from our wild birds and discover that these same training methods will work for their pets at home!


So, You Want to Work in a Zoo?
Open up the world of zoos and zoo careers through discussions with the staff of the National Aviary and demonstrations with some of our feathered co-workers. Earn about the fascinating careers that are available in zoos, aquariums, and parks today while giving students a greater appreciation of the role that zoos play in modern conservation and research efforts.


Penguins
From the Galapagos penguins near the equator to the Emperor penguins of Antarctica, your students will learn fun facts about all 18 species as well as the threats that put penguins in peril.


Amazing Adaptations
What makes a bird a bird? Find out the answers to this question and more as the National Aviary introduces students to the diverse world of birds and their amazing adaptations. Feathers, beaks, feet and live birds are used to explore this fascinating group of animals.


Avian Assembly - Bring the National Aviary to Your School
Your students will experience the unforgettable feeling of live birds flying overhead as the National Aviary’s trained birds showcase what they do best in the wild. Watch our flock demonstrate natural behaviors while students learn about the important role that birds play in our world. This unique assembly program is perfect for larger groups and is an opportunity to see a variety of birds in a dynamic presentation that is both fun and educational. BIRDiversity
There are roughly 10,000 different species of birds on our planet and they can be found on every continent and in nearly every habitat! Explore the importance of biodiversity in our world and meet some weird and wild birds.


Carnivores
Explore some of the differences between avian carnivores and other birds and discover the important role carnivores play in ecosystems around the world.


Rainforest
Experience the wonders of the rainforest through an immersive encounter with our rainforest birds and an interactive multimedia presentation. Students will gain an appreciation for the rainforest biome, home to nearly half of the world’s plant and animal species.


Owl Pellet Add-on
Give your students hands-on experience with owl pellets. Add this 30-minute experience to Carnivores, Amazing Adaptations, Mythbusters or BIRDiversity. Program includes supplies, instructions, and educational materials. Price: $75 plus $2.25 per student. Limit 40 students.
