1. Get involved with local environmental organizations:
Become a member of the National Aviary. Become a volunteer or docent at the National Aviary. Donate money to the National Aviary’s Conservation and Field Research programs.
2. Vote for the environment.
Vote for candidates that share your commitment to the environment. Learn about conservation issues in your community or state. Write your legislators and let them know where you stand on the issues. Take advantage of the Non-Game Wildlife check-off on your tax form.
3. Pass it on.
Teach children to respect nature and the environment. Take them on hikes or camping. Help them plant a tree or build a birdhouse. Don’t pick flowers or collect wild creatures for pets: leave animals and plants where you find them. Encourage relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers to do something good for our planet! |
