Help us promote wildlife education and conservation!

Thank you for your interest in the National Aviary.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire respect for nature through an appreciation of birds.

Your base of support elevates the quality of our collection and programs, and enables us to create extraordinary learning experiences for children and families, students, teachers, bird lovers, eco-tourists, community organizations and seniors.

The National Aviary is excited to announce that we are now a United Way Contributor's Choice Agency!
By directing your pledge to #7196, you're helping us to bring wonder and inspiration to hundreds of United Way clients with up-close-and-personal encounters with beautiful wildlife. It's a wise decision!

Together, we are achieving remarkable results. Last year we:

Welcomed a record number of visitors

Taught over 34,000 people about the importance of wildlife through 772 classes

Announced a $23 million expansion that will double the Aviary’s square footage

Successfully bred and managed some of the world’s most endangered species, including Guam rails, pearl-spotted owlets, and Steller’s sea eagles

Studied the migratory patterns of golden eagles to develop baseline data on ideal locations for green-energy wind turbines

Developed a new surgical technique in our veterinary hospital to treat a life-threatening reproductive disorder in female birds

Attracted national and regional attention through more than 225 print articles, television, and radio broadcasts

Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator, has awarded the National Aviary its highest 4-star rating. This achievement recognizes the Aviary’s high standards in financial management and donor stewardship.
